Anyone can participate, regardless of church affiliation, who is willing to make a commitment and attend an orientation session. How we will dress, act and conduct ourselves will be discussed. Each set will be explained, and direction will be given.
We will have a dress rehearsal at a date to be determined for this year. This is helpful for both first-timers and veterans. Everyone attending will have an opportunity to preview the sets so that they are familiar with their surroundings and where they are to be. Soup and sandwiches will be served to the cast and crew beginning at 5 p.m. The evening will conclude with communion at the manger scene.
The Living Christmas Story is a ministry which involves hundreds of volunteers, all ages and sizes. No acting talent or special skills are necessary. All costumes are provided. It is a wonderful witness to our children, who feel that in some way they have participated in the events of Jesus’ birth. We do require that children and teens be accompanied by an adult.
In addition to acting, volunteers help with costumes, sets and props, lighting, feeding the cast and crew, and managing the animals on the sets. Volunteers also help Bethany UMC spread the news about The Living Christmas Story through this web site, newspapers, radio and television, street-side banners, posters, T-shirts and business cards.
